National Features

The big TV networks have taken to using the soulful, patently inoffensive music of Welsh electro-songstress Jem to promote their competing shows. FOX is using "Come on Closer" from her debut album, Finally Woken, in the previews for its entire Sunday lineup, while ABC has busted out "Enjoy the Ride" for the fab hospital drama Grey's Anatomy. And really, these pairings are understandable. On tracks like "They" and "Finally Woken," the waifish Jem occupies the same space as Beth Orton: catchy, occasionally inspired literocktronica ideally suited for gentle afternoons and retail environments. Jem cancelled her August show at Mississippi Nights, but she's back to take you up on your rain checks -- which is truly, truly, truly outrageous.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $13 to $15; call 314-421-3853 for more information.
