Think the new-wave revival is getting a little too mall-mainstream? The fractured synth weirdness of Austin, Texas quartet Zom Zoms should take care of that notion — while scaring away any legwarmers-come-lately in the process. Notorious for sporting polka dots (lots of polka dots) in photographs, the band also specializes in jittery keyboard hiccups that resemble XTC or Devo's hyperactive experimental eras, with a dash of B-52's abstract wackiness and a faint Texas twang thrown in for good measure. Yellow Rainbow is their latest full-length; listen to its electronic blurts and realize yet again how lame most '80s revivalists really are.
