Why would the American Civil Liberties Union host a happy hour? According to Scott Emanuel, project coordinator for the ACLU of Eastern Missouri, "We want to have a social element to the work that we do in addition to the bigger fundraisers. This is really just a way for people who care about issues, or who care about civil liberties, to meet other such people, our staff and our board. It's a fun way to be engaged about issues that are important and relevant today." So, meet civil-minded citizens and the people who defend them at the ACLU Happy Hour from 6 to 8 p.m. at Erato Wine Bar (3117 South Grand Boulevard). The event is free, even for conservatives. For more information check out www.aclu-em.org or call 314-361-3635, extension 27.
