The last of the Lemp family died in 1970, but as all of St. Louis knows, you can't keep a good Lemp down. And so the St. Louis Spirit Search group leads brave souls on Ghost-Hunting Tours through the historic Lemp Mansion (3322 DeMenil Place), which is universally acclaimed as one of the most haunted places in America. An experienced psychic attempts to communicate with the restless Lemp clan (many of whom committed suicide), and amateur ghost-hunters are encouraged to bring along their own flashlights and cameras. Protective crystals, crucifixes and garlic-related defenses are optional; if you choose to salt your shoes and sprinkle yourself with holy water, please do so before arriving on the premises. The tours begin at 6:30 and 9 p.m. (on October 16, 17, 23 through 26, 30 and 31; visit www.stlspiritsearch.com for specifics and other events), and the cost is $15. Call 314-776-4667 for your required reservations.
