The members of Seattle's The Divorce are quite the overachievers on their aptly named second album, The Gifted Program. Vocalist Shane Berry emotes like a slick lounge singer inspired by the Killers' Brandon Flowers and Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, adding a dramatic counterpoint to his band's influences: spiky new wave, dance-punk, spacey shoegazing and fuzzy 1990s post-rock. The resulting mish-mash should be a mess — except that Program's hooks are so crisp and propulsive that it's impossible not to fall in love.
