The three members of the Coke Dares have logged time in fellow Bloomington, Indiana, rock outfits Magnolia Electric Co. and the Impossible Shapes. But its latest album, Feelin' Up, is a different kind of project: The trio rips through 33 songs in 23 minutes, paying homage to everything from the goofball punk of the Descendents to the high-octane soul-infused rock of the Stooges — while managing to work in some rockabilly and surf-punk spaz-outs for good measure. In other words, Up feels like a super-concentrated snapshot of the band's high-energy, comedic live show.
