Tourists can't wait to get next to them--even though they're eating machines.

Yeah, exactly. We completely trust them, they don't treat us like we're their product or anything like that. They push it like, "Check out these friends of ours, check out this band, they're really cool."

Sheena said you were in some other bands. Did you always know you wanted to go into music?

I play drums in Lemuria, and this is the first band I've ever played drums in. I used to play guitar in bands. After the first few years after high school, I was playing guitar and touring in more, like, hardcore and punk bands. And then all through middle school and high school, I played trombone. I was in the school band for ten years. [Laughs] Maybe that was what got me interested in music, but I never played in a ska band or anthing like that, even though I was a trombonist.

How did you manage to avoid that? That's a crazy feat.

I've actually thought about that myself, I don't know how. The town I grew up in [Ellicottville, New York] is very, very small. I graduated with only 40 people, that's how small it was. Our school was pre-school to twelfth grade, the one school for the whole area. There weren't many people to start ska bands with. [Laughs] — Annie Zaleski
